Beginning in 2000 this dedicated team of fully qualified paediatric therapists with specialisms in supporting children with cerebral palsy, combine multi-disciplinary rehabilitation with parental education which promotes a child’s integration into society. The aim is to optimise the child’s potential for future development of their young bodies. The health care services include:

  • Free individual medical evaluation, assessment and establishment of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programme with the frequency and duration adapted to each child’s requirements
  • Specialist medical consultations
  • Physio, speech, music and basic occupational therapies
  • Massage and provision of orthopaedic equipment
  • Hydro therapy
  • Fully equipped modern sensory room therapy
  • Psychological counselling and special needs education
  • Education in health and hygiene
  • Family aid
  • Arrangement of orthopaedic and cardiac operations

In one year 600 children are treated, with many seen at least two to four times a year and fifty children are seen each month. All the programmes for each child are reassessed and realigned as the child develops.

The service is free to access for users. The annual budget of the Centre is £85,000 of which £25,000 is met by the State Insurance Company.
