“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck” (Prov 1:8-9)
A substantial part of ChildAid’s activities evolve around education: for teenage orphans ill-equipped for
independent living; for parents ill-equipped for bringing their children up in a safe, positive environment when
simple matters such as providing food and clothing are an immense challenge; for those caring for children with disabilities in how to offer ongoing support when not in one of our centres.
So the list goes on, and now we have the opportunity to help with the school education of 100s of children in a
rural location in Europe’s second poorest country, Moldova. I have always been humbled when I visit the Vălcineț school as the staff are so positive despite having limited teaching resources, and the children are so polite,
interested and seem very happy. Adding this dimension of our support to the amazing work already being done in neighbouring Esther House will be wonderful.
Meanwhile, these next few weeks will be critical. As we pray for the end of the fighting in Ukraine we also look
forward to receiving reports back as to how our partners will be giving the children the time, space and activities to make their summer filled with good memories, amongst all the fear and worries they have to live with daily.
We wish you a beautiful summer, and hope that you will have the opportunity to read our 50 year journey through prayers and Bible verses.
