“Blessed be …” (Matt 5: 1-12)

The Beatitudes emphasise humility, mercy, righteousness, peace-making, and enduring persecution for the sake of righteousness. They offer a vision of a life that is both blessed and deeply connected to spiritual and moral integrity, encouraging us to seek inner transformation and a closer relationship with God.

For their mourning, meekness, and poorness in spirit those we serve are blessed. ChildAid’s partners bring such teachings of Jesus close to the hearts and minds of families and children. Their mission is to ease the physical and emotional pain and suffering here and now, but connect also with the hope and opportunities brought through relationship with a God who can only love.

The work of The Lighthouse Centre clearly demonstrates this, but just as powerful is the testimony of one of the first young people who were brought into the embrace of New Beginning. This edition of ChildAid Matters is a power-pack record of blessings and the blessed. There is light and warmth in the long, cold dark days yet there are beacons of light and warmth made freely available.

In Psalm 27 we read, “Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord”. As our partners know and proclaim, though the suffering is great we can be confident that God is holding us in his hands and that the reward in heaven is great.
