History
ChildAid was founded in 1973 by Jane Ellis, a researcher at Keston College. After studying Russian at university, Jane felt called to serve oppressed Christians in Russia.
Our impact
Most children born with a physical disability in the former Soviet Union countries would be hidden from society in state run orphanages so as not to upset their able bodied peers.
Vision and Values
Our mission is to transform the limited circumstances of today’s vulnerable, abandoned and disabled children in Eastern Europe into ones of opportunity and hope.
Why
The charity started up in 1973 with the clear objective of providing pastoral and material support where it could to the then oppressed Church in Russia
