Support children in Ukraine and Moldova
Giving Tuesday is just around the corner, and we truly need your help and support.
This year, ChildAid will participate in two important fundraising campaigns: Move a Million by Global Giving and The Christmas Challenge by Big Give.
MoveAmillion
On Tuesday, 3rd December, we’ll take part in Global Giving’s Move a Million Campaign.
For just 24 hours, Global Giving will provide additional bonus donations for each donation up to £1,400 each.
This year, our focus is on the project Rebuild 100s of Lives and Communities in Ukraine, specifically supporting three orphanages in Uzhhorod. These orphanages are in desperate need of basic supplies like food, medicine, and hygiene products.
- The orphanages receive only $2 a day per child to cover basic needs.
- Refugee orphans displaced from eastern Ukraine receive no funding at all.
With 150 refugee orphans to care for, the orphanages face critical shortages leading to hunger, illness, and isolation. Recently, one of the orphanages our director visited experienced an outbreak of a preventable disease caused by overcrowding and severe malnutrition.
This Giving Tuesday, we aim to raise £50,000 to provide:
- Nutritious food to keep the children healthy.
- Hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste, and shampoo.
- Life-saving medicines to prevent disease and treat illnesses.
These funds will provide essential care for an entire year—a lifeline for children who have no one else to turn to.

Christmas Challenge
We have been working closely with schools in Moldova to support children’s education. Education has the power to transform lives and open opportunities, especially in remote areas where schools lack basic resources.
Many of these schools struggle to afford laptops, science equipment, and interactive learning tools that we take for granted. For example, last year, attendance rates at one of the schools we support increased simply because we provided these essential tools. Children with learning disabilities have also been able to benefit significantly from better resources.
During a recent visit to Moldova, our director saw first hand the urgent need to expand support to more schools.
During the Christmas Challenge every donation will be matched and make a difference in supporting us to enhance education in rural Moldova.
We aim to raise £20,000 to provide:
- £12,000 – 6 interactive whiteboards
- £4,000 – 3 laptops for teachers, projectors and screens
- £2,000 – Replace very old Russian language library books
- £1,000 – Electronic microscope
- £1,000 – Manual microscopes
Starting on Giving Tuesday, 3rd December, and running until 10th December, you’ll have 7 days to donate to our campaign Enhancing Education in Rural Moldova
