Ukraine: Still at War

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Ps 51:10)

Since returning from Moldova at the end of May, a number of people have said how difficult it must be to visit the areas we work in. It is and it is not. It can be emotionally draining and upsetting to see and experience the poverty and the hardship of families. Upsetting also that there are still so many struggles and heartaches. Heart-breaking to hear the dreams of children being shattered by war and hurt.

On the converse, it is uplifting and joyful to feel the warmth of those we visit, their generous hospitality even when they have so little, and to see what a difference even a small investment in their lives can and is making.

As well as updating on the impact of the ongoing war, in this newsletter we report on the gift made to a school in Moldova of, amongst many investments, an interactive whiteboard. A simple example of the encouragement these are bringing is that previously the maths teacher could rarely get a student to come to the old blackboard to complete a sum. Now all students want to go to the front of the class and answer the sums. A small point, but it demonstrates the enthusiasm staff and students alike now have in their schooling, and in that their future also.

Summer is upon us and the various activities across our partners are taking place to restore spirits, strengthen bodies and rejuvenate the soul. As we have said many times before, these are vital for the well-being of the children and their families, and so we thank you for your donations which makes this all possible.

Be blessed this summer and have your own minds, bodies and souls revived.
